Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly to leave Manchester United this summer

Manchester United are ready to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly in the summer. Both players have dropped down the pecking order in their positions and are not in the plans of Erik Ten Hag.

The last time Manchester United won the Premier League was in 2013. It was the final season of Sir Alex Ferguson. The wily Scotsman managed to drag the Red Devils across the line for their 20th Premier League title. The signs were ominous. Manchester United were on a decline. It had taken so much to get the team to win that title. A new sheriff was in town and challenging the dominance of the Red Devils.

In the last 20 years, there has been no era as bad as the past three years. It’s been nine years since Manchester United last won the Premier League, but the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is one to forget. The former United forward oversaw a side that bottled several trophies, failing to win any. Solskjaer also spent close to half a billion pounds with nothing to show.

The era of Erik Ten Hag is due to begin, but it is already claiming casualties. A few players will leave the club for free. United also want to sell some players. One of the players leaving is Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka on his way out?

Erik Ten Hag takes over from Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season, and the Dutchman has earmarked several players not included in his plans for next season. Manchester United are willing to let Aaron Wan-Bissaka leave the club this summer.

The right-back was signed from Crystal Palace by the grossly ineffectual Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian saw the defender as a bright prospect and shelled out £50 million to Crystal Palace in 2019 to bring him to Old Trafford. It has been a failed experiment, with Wan-Bissaka struggling to tie down a regular place in the team.

The Englishman has dropped down the pecking order, with Ralf Rangnick - the interim manager preferring Diogo Dalot. With limited options, Manchester United are willing to take a hit and let the defender leave.

Sky Sports News reports that Manchester United would prefer an outright sale for Wan-Bissaka, but in the absence of a ready buyer, United are open to a loan move with an obligation to buy. Erik Ten Hag does not see Wan-Bissaka in his plans due to his style of play. The Dutchman prefers a player with the ability to carry the ball forward and penetrate lines.

United to also sell Eric Bailly

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are also looking for takers for Ivorian defender Eric Bailly.

Bailly could not hit the heights in his Old Trafford career due to injuries, which caused him to fall behind Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, and Raphael Varane. Bailly had ambitions of a long career at United. He signed a new contract in April. He aimed to stay injury-free and win the Premier League.

Like his teammate Wan Bissaka, things have not gone smoothly for Bailly, who has managed just six starts this season. Wan-Bissaka has made 26 appearances in all competitions. There are no interests in Bailly yet, but Crystal Palace are keen on bringing Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park.
