Spurs choose Kulusevski over Dybala for summer transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out of the race to sign Paulo Dybala in the summer because of Dejan Kulusevski, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Tottenham signed the 21-year-old Swedish international on an 18-month loan deal from Juventus where he failed to gain the confidence of Massimiliano Allegri and was reduced to a bit part role.

Kulusevski has since rediscovered his form playing under the tutelage of Antonio Conte in North London, scoring three goals and providing six assists in 12 games in the Premier League.

His form has made the club convinced enough to launch a bid to sign him permanently after his loan from Juventus, where he has a good number of years left on his contract. This also means that they have chosen to pull out of their bid to sign Paulo Dybala, who will be a free agent in the summer when his Juventus contract runs out.

TuttoMercatoWeb claims that Spurs have submitted a £25 million bid for Kulusevski, and that Juventus are likely to accept the bid at the end of his 18-month loan move. Dybala, on the other hand, will have one less offer on the table to consider thanks to his former teammate.

The Argentine, however, could still be moving to the Premier League with Arsenal and Manchester United reported to be interested in his signature. It has also been reported that incoming Man United manager Erik ten Hag has asked the club to sign the 28-year-old.

Spurs and Conte, meanwhile, will turn their attention towards securing a wingback as Kulusevski has provided a good attacking option which they are confident in.

Spurs receive boost in securing Kane future

Spurs have also been handed a major boost in their bid to keep star striker Harry Kane after Manchester City moved forward with their mega bid to land Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Kane had wanted to leave Spurs for City in the summer after stating that he would like to win some trophies to add to his already storied career. The Arsenal youth product has scored a whopping 243 goals for Spurs in 380 total appearances to date.

He is also currently fifth on the Premier League all time scorers list with 178 goals, with a young player award, three golden boots and a playmaker award to show for it.

City would have presented Kane with a genuine shot to crown all his personality achievements with a title and Kane knew this, hence his push to join Pep Guardiola's team in the summer. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and football director Fabio Paratici frustrated his efforts.

Kane has now resigned to performing at his best for Spurs and is doing so. However, his preferred move after his Spurs stint is over now looks unlikely with their move for Haaland.

This is welcome news for Spurs, who are planning to offer Kane a new contract in the coming months.
