Lukaku requests meeting with Inter Milan

In a fresh twist to the Romelu Lukaku situation at Chelsea, the Belgian striker has requested a meeting with his former club, according to an Italian journalist.

Romelu Lukaku left Internazionale in the summer for a dream return to Chelsea. The Blues paid a whopping £98 million to land the striker, who led the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto in a decade with his commanding play and his timely goals.

Upon his return to Chelsea, he hit the ground running, scoring four in five until an injury forced him to the sidelines. Then he gave that now famous interview which was the beginning of his problems at the club.

He picked up in form again towards the end of the season, giving Chelsea fans a glimpse of what he can do. However, the talks of a transfer away still remained and now, he has requested a meeting with Inter.

This is according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin who claims that the meeting will be held next week with a view of reaching an agreement for Lukaku's return to the San Siro.

Inter, meanwhile, are set to lose Ivan Perisic to Tottenham Hotspur as the Croatian is pining for a Premier League adventure under his former manager Antonio Conte.

This is according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano who claims that the 33-year-old has, through his agent, told Inter that he is considering other options.

His contract ends on June 30 and Simone Inzaghi is desperately trying to get the veteran to sign a new contract at the club. Inter were reported to have raised their salary offer to £99,000-per-week after the meeting to try to convince Perisic to remain at the club.

While they wait, Tottenham are pressing forward with their discussions with Perisic.

The North London side are also sizing up Youssouf Fofana of AS Monaco along with Perisic.
