Arsenal enquire about Dybala as Gabriel Jesus pursuit stalls

Arsenal have reportedly asked Paulo Dybala’s entourage about the player’s demands, with the view of a possible move this summer. The Argentine will leave Juventus at the end of his contract this summer and a host of clubs are already in line to land his signature.

With Eddie Nketiah’s future uncertain and Alexandre Lacazette expected to leave, Arsenal will most likely sign a forward in the coming transfer window. Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus has been the foremost target for the Gunners, with contact made with the player's agent as far back as last November.

However, there is a twist in Arsenal’s pursuit of the Brazilian and reports now suggest that the Gunners could seek alternatives in search of a forward

Arsenal have second thoughts over Gabriel Jesus pursuit

ESPN report that Manchester City want at least £55million for Gabriel Jesus and that valuation has put Arsenal off at the moment. Rightly so, it would come as a rip off to spend that much on a player who has only one year left on his contract and could literally join for free if they wait till next summer.

Arsenal might now choose to test City’s resolve or possibly end their pursuit of the Brazilian until he is a free agent next summer. With that in mind, Dybala would come as a much cheaper alternative, given that he is available on a free transfer. The Gunners have now made concrete moves to know the player’s personal demands.

One of Dybala’s representatives was recently spotted in London and Manchester, amid rumored interest from a host of Premier League sides. Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and even Newcastle have all been linked with the 28-year-old.

The player’s representative has also visited Spain and Italy to discuss with interested parties from both countries as well. Inter Milan remain the bookies’ favourite to land the Argentine but the lure of a move to the Premier League might be difficult for Dybala to ignore.

Arsenal could face yet another setback should they decide to intensify their efforts on Dybala. The Argentine is reportedly in search of Champions League football and the Gunners could miss out for the sixth consecutive season if things don’t go their way. Arsenal no longer have their destiny in their own hands and need to beat Everton while hoping relegated Norwich beat Tottenham, if they are to claim a top-four finish.

Dybala will leave Juventus after calling Turin home for the past seven years. In total, he has made 292 appearances for the club, scoring 115 goals and recording 48 assists.
