Benfica, the prominent Portuguese club, appears to be making significant strides in their efforts to secure RB Leipzig forward Andre Silva. According to reports, the Benfica management has initiated discussions with RB Leipzig regarding the terms of the transfer, and the potential move has received the approval of head coach Roger Schmidt. Earlier, German publication "Bild" had also highlighted the possibility of the 27-year-old player returning to Portugal, with a transfer fee in the range of €15 million being considered realistic.

Silva, currently at RB Leipzig, seems discontented with his role in the team and is contemplating a departure from the club this summer. Commenting on the squad planning for the upcoming season, Benfica vice-president Luis Mendes stated, "There might be some adjustments, but there won't be major changes."

Silva, whose contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2026, is not a guaranteed starter for the team. In the current season, he has made 44 appearances across various competitions for RB Leipzig, scoring 9 goals and providing 9 assists. As per transfermarkt.de, Silva's market value is estimated at €20 million.

It is worth mentioning that Silva's playing time at RB Leipzig has been limited this season, featuring in only 31 matches and scoring 4 goals.
