Transfer News: Wolves and Barcelona to return on-loan players

Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers will not be signing their on-loan players to a permanent deal or extending their loans for another season.

22-year-old Francisco Trincao joined the Premier League side on loan at the beginning of the season after his first season at Barcelona where he joined from Portuguese Primera Liga side Sporting Braga.

The Portuguese winger has made 16 starts in the Premier League for the side, while racking up a total of 25 appearances in the season so far, with one goal and one assist. Wolves signed him with and option to buy but have chosen not to activate that option, per reports.

Meanwhile, Adama Traore, 26, who Trincao essentially replaced in the Wolves squad - he was loaned out as his minutes dwindled due to the presence of Trincao and Daniel Podence in the side - is also set to return to the Premier League side after his six-month loan spell at Barcelona is done.

The Catalans, in trying to salvage their season, signed some players in the January transfer window including Traore on loan. The Spanish winger was returning to his boyhood club and hoped to make an impact but has only been able to rack up three LaLiga starts. Barcelona have chosen not to intimate the talks to buy him, after signing the loan deal with the option to buy for €30 million.

The reports also suggest that both players could be moved on from their parent clubs after the season ends. At Barcelona, only seven players are untouchable: Pedri Gonzalez, Nico Gonzalez, Anssumane Fati, Eric Garcia, Ferran Torres, Ronald Araujo and Pablo Gavira 'Gavi'. Every other player is for sale, and manager Xavi Hernandez may not have use for Trincao.

At Wolves, Traore's run looks to be at an end as manager Bruno Large does not have plans for the energetic winger. Traore himself is said to be seeking a way out of the club and is not short of suitors.

And according to Football Insider, Everton are the latest club to be interested in Traore. The Toffees are set to lose key man Richarlison in the summer and they believe Traore is a great replacement for the Brazil international.

It is understood that Everton’s new director of football, Kevin Thelwell, is a big admirer of Traore and he was the man who signed Traore for Wolves in 2018.

Everton, however, are currently in a relegation battle so their ability to attract Traore or any top talent is dependent on if they stay up or get relegated.
