Manchester City Football Club is a team located in the city of Manchester, UK. Its predecessor was the West Gorton Saint Marks, established in 1880, which was later renamed Ardwick A.F.C. in 1887 before becoming Manchester City in 1894. The club's motto, Superbia in Proelio, means "Pride in Battle".

Club Introduction

Manchester City was founded in 1880 and is currently a leading team in the English Premier League, playing its home games at the Etihad Stadium. In 1904, Manchester City won its first FA Cup, but for the next 30 years, the club fluctuated between promotions and relegations. Since Manchester City's promotion to the Premier League in 2002, the team's performance has been inconsistent, and the club has undergone several changes in management. On July 6, 2007, former Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra bought Manchester City for £81.6 million, becoming the club's new owner. In August 2008, Thaksin Shinawatra resigned as club chairman, and Abu Dhabi United Group subsequently acquired Manchester City, providing the club with more significant financial resources. With the backing of a large financial consortium, Manchester City began to make significant transfers in the transfer market and quickly became a force to be reckoned with in European football.
