Real Madrid analysis

Real Madrid Football Club is a legend in Spanish football and a king in European football. This century-old team has created countless brilliant achievements, the most eye-catching of which is its performance in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). Real Madrid is the team with the most championships in UCL history, with a total of 14 championship trophies. In recent years, it has reached the final four times in a row and won three championships, showing extraordinary strength and resilience.

Last season, Real Madrid once again demonstrated its king’s style on the UCL stage, advancing all the way from the group stage to the knockout stage. In the final in Paris, France, they defeated Premier League powerhouse Liverpool 1-0 to win their 14th UCL trophy.

This season, Real Madrid still maintains a strong state on the UCL stage. They locked in their qualification one round ahead of schedule in the group stage and defeated Premier League powerhouse Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate over two rounds of 16 matches to easily advance to the quarter-finals. In these two games, Real Madrid showed excellent balance between offense and defense and teamwork. Benzema, Vinicius Jr., Asensio and other forwards performed well, contributing goals and assists for the team; while on the defensive line, Carvajal, Varane, Militao, Mendy and other players also performed steadily and limited Liverpool’s firepower. Real Madrid coach Zidane highly praised the team’s performance and expressed confidence that the team can continue to advance in subsequent games.

However, in La Liga, Real Madrid’s situation is not so optimistic. The team’s lineup has not changed much this season and all main players have stayed with the team. However, they have encountered many difficulties and setbacks in La Liga. After 28 rounds of matches, Real Madrid has achieved 18 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses with 59 points temporarily ranked second. They are 13 points behind Barcelona at the top of the table and it is difficult to compete for the championship. In their first 12 home games of La Liga this season they achieved 9 wins 4 draws and 1 loss scoring 34 goals while conceding only 12 goals ranking second in home combat capability. In their last game they lost to Villarreal at home with a score of 2-3 suffering their first home defeat this season.

Real Madrid’s performance in UCL and La Liga has formed a sharp contrast reflecting differences in mentality and state between different competitions. The UCL is Real Madrid’s most important event and also a stage for them to show their strength and honor. On the UCL stage Real Madrid always performs with extraordinary fighting spirit and level not afraid of any opponent or difficulty proving that they are kings of European football.

Chelsea analysis

Chelsea Football Club is a traditional powerhouse in English football and a strong team in European football. Founded in 1905, the team has won the top league championship in England 6 times, the FA Cup 8 times, the League Cup 5 times and the UEFA Champions League and Europa League twice each.

This season Chelsea has suffered huge setbacks and crises in the Premier League. This season Lukaku was loaned to Inter Milan, Rudiger transferred to Real Madrid and Christensen transferred to Barcelona. Chelsea also made big signings spending over £50 million to sign Sterling from Manchester City £34.2 million to sign Koulibaly from Napoli and £65.3 million to sign Cucurella from Brighton with a total transfer fee of over £100 million. However these new signings did not bring the expected results to the team but instead caused the team to lose its original balance and stability.

After 30 rounds of matches this season Chelsea has achieved 10 wins 9 draws and 11 losses with 39 points temporarily ranked 11th falling back 8 places from last season with a significant decline in strength. In their away games they achieved 4 wins 4 draws and 7 losses scoring 13 goals while conceding 19 goals ranking tenth in away combat capability. On April 2nd Chelsea lost to Aston Villa at home with a score of 0-2 failing to win for two consecutive home games. After this game head coach Potter was sacked and Bruno Salto took over as interim head coach but the new coach still did not improve the situation first drawing with Liverpool at home then losing to Wolves away in their last game currently going four rounds without a win in La Liga.

Chelsea still maintains a strong state on the UCL stage advancing to the round of 16 as group winners. In the first leg of the round of 16 they lost to Borussia Dortmund away but won their home game 2-0 in the second leg finally advancing to the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 2-1. In these two games Chelsea showed excellent defensive and counter-attacking abilities with new signings Sterling Koulibaly and Cucurella performing well contributing goals and assists for the team while on the defensive line Mendy Azpilicueta Rudiger and other players also performed steadily limiting Dortmund’s firepower. Chelsea’s interim head coach Salto highly praised the team’s performance and expressed confidence that the team can continue to advance in subsequent games.

Head-to-head record

In their last 6 encounters Real Madrid has achieved 3 wins 1 draw and 2 losses scoring 11 goals while conceding 10 goals slightly having the upper hand. Last year in the UCL semi-finals both teams defeated their opponents away with a score of 1-3.

Odds analysis

The initial odds for the European handicap were set at 1.75  3.5  4.75 which is quite normal. After receiving bets the odds were adjusted to 1.62  3.8  5.5 further lowering the odds for a win while raising the odds for a draw and a loss. It seems that there is no suspense in Real Madrid winning this game.

Match prediction

From the current situation Real Madrid is basically unable to compete with Barcelona for the championship in La Liga so they pay more attention to the UCL. Chelsea’s strength has declined in the Premier League this season and they have just changed coaches so their overall state is not good. Therefore Footballant believes that in the match between Real Madrid vs Chelsea the result will be a win for Real Madrid.
