Chelsea and Spurs managers see red as Thomas Tuchel faults Antonio Conte for fracas

Chelsea are one of the favourites to win the Premier League this season, but the west London club slipped on Sunday as they hosted Tottenham Hotspur in a feisty affair. The London derby was electric and exciting as the two sides ended up with a share of the spoils. The game played at Stamford Bridge finished 2-2, with Spurs the happier of the two sides.
It was a derby in every sense of it, with Spurs again failing to beat Chelsea.
Spurs were already being tipped as favourites to win the league. They were jolted to reality by Chelsea, who completely dominated the game, but failed to make their superiority count.
The super-charged affair produced plenty of excitement, but its off-the-pitch shenanigans took centre stage. The two managers clashed on the sidelines, with Antonio Conte believed to be the instigator of the altercation between the pair.
Tuchel blames Conte for touchline fracas
In the Premier League encounter between Chelsea and Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, the touchline drama made the news rather than the action on the pitch. Antonio Conte had appeared to have tried to rile his German counterpart after his side equalized on the afternoon. Thomas Tuchel didn’t like it and went face-to-face with the Italian.
Thomas Tuchel has explained what happened to him and Conte in the fiery clash with Spurs. The German tactician criticized Antonio Conte for failing to look him in the eye during their post-match handshake.
Tuchel spoke with Sky Sports about the post-match incident. According to him, when managers shake hands, they are supposed to look each other in the eye, but Conte had a different opinion. Tuchel claims it was not necessary. The German said there was no problem when asked why both managers received yellow cards following their clash after Spurs’ first equalizing goal.
A controversial encounter
It was an exciting affair that saw Chelsea dominate Tottenham with a higher percentage of possession and chances created, but the Blues failed to convert it into a win. Spurs played on the back foot for most of the game, with Chelsea dictating the pace.
Kalidou Koulibally scored the opener with a clinical first-half finish off a corner kick, but Chelsea failed to press home their advantage.
Spurs were fortunate to still be in the game as Chelsea fluffed several chances. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg got Spurs the equalizer midway into the second half. The goal infuriated Chelsea manager Tuchel for not awarding a free kick against Bentacur for his challenge on Kai Harvetz. The immature celebration by Conte in front of Tuchel made the situation worse.
Chelsea went back into the lead through Reece James but could not hold on to their lead and allowed Harry Kane to steal in and nod in a late equalizer to earn Spurs a share of the spoils.
