Paul Pogba receives first official offer for summer transfer

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has finally received an official contract offer ahead of his exit from Old Trafford in the summer.

Pogba is calling time on his Manchester United career after two separate stints at the club between 2011 and 2012, and 2016 and 2022. Both stints were largely unsuccessful for the Frenchman, who had won multiple league titles in four years at Juventus, played in the UEFA Champions League final, as well as playing in the Euro 2016 final before winning the World Cup and UEFA Nations League with France.

Man United only provided Pogba with the UEFA Europa League and the EFL (Carabao) Cup, won in his first season at the club. Since then, he has been a scapegoat for many when talking about the club's failings.

His contract runs out in June and he has chosen to continue his career elsewhere. After being linked to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, Foot Mercato now reports that the 29-year-old has received his first official offer.

PSG have tabled a bid with Pogba's agent Mino Raiola to make him their highest profile free transfer for the summer, like they did with Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Georginio Wijnaldum in the past summer.

The bid comes after Pep Guardiola rejected the Frenchman on behalf of Manchester City last week. The latest City rejection will be the second one in four years, as Pogba does not fit the profile of players Guardiola is looking for.

The links to Barcelona have died down in the media, but links to Juventus and Real Madrid still remain. PSG will have to convince Pogba and Raiola with an offer they cannot refuse in order to get the former European Golden Boy to sign for them.

It could also be a way for the Parisiens to keep hold of Kylian Mbappe, who is still mulling over his future at the club with Real Madrid lurking in the shadows for his signature.

PSG have promised to sign players who Mbappe will approve of and his friendship with Pogba could be leveraged in order to get both World Cup winners to wear the colours of France's most successful club next season.

Man United, meanwhile, will have a busy summer with interim manager Ralf Rangnick claiming that as many as ten signings will be made in the two transfer windows of the coming season. They will be busy identifying players to replace the likes of Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic who are set to leave Old Trafford.

They could also be looking for replacements for Juan Mata, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford, who have all been linked with a move away from the club next season.
