England captain Harry Kane has announced on social media that he will be "staying at Tottenham this summer".

Kane, who is crowned the Premier League's top goalscorer for a fourth time this season, had been linked with a move away from north London.

Summer of speculation

Premier League champions Manchester City had been a reported suitor of the 28-year-old, who believed he had an agreement with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy that he would be able to leave the club this summer. However, after weeks of negotiations, a move to the Etihad has failed to be agreed.

Kane, whose contract with Tottenham runs until the end of the 2024 season, now appears to be open to remaining with the north London club.

Return at Molineux

The striker sat out the first two games of the season - a 1-0 win over champions City and defeat to Pacos de Ferreira in Europa Conference League qualifying - but returned off the substitutes bench in Sunday's victory at Wolves.

In a post on Twitter, Kane said: "It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks.

"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."
