About German Bundesliga

The Bundesliga, played by 18 clubs, is a double round-robin competition. Each club plays the others twice, once at home and once away. Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a defeat. Teams are ranked by total points at the end of the season. If the teams share the same points, the tiebreakers are applied in the following order: goal difference, total goals scored, points head-to-head, goals scored head-to-head, goals scored head-to-head, total goals scored away from home during all season. If two clubs are tied in the dispute for champion, promotion and qualification to the UEFA Champions League, a single leg play-off will be held at a neutral location to determine the placing. The top four clubs in the table automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage. Fifth place goes to the Europa League and sixth place goes to the Europa League qualifiers. The winner of the German Cup qualifies for the Europa League group stage. If the champion has already qualified for the Champions League, the place goes to the highest ranked team in the league that did not qualify for the UCL. If the Champions League and Europa League champions are from the Bundesliga and both have not qualified for the Champions League through the league, the fourth ranked team enters the Europa League. The two teams at the bottom of the table are relegated to 2. Bundesliga, and the third to last competes with third place from 2. Bundesliga plays a two-legged playoff.
