About Concacaf Gold

The Gold Cup Prelims will be played in a format which features two rounds of competition.In Round One,twelve Participating Member Associations will be divided into six Matchups.The teams in each matchup will be determined via a draw. After single elimination play, the six winners of each matchup will advance to Round Two. Round Two of the Gold Cup Prelims will be played in a single elimination format.The three winners of Round Two of the Gold Cup Prelims will advance to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Group Stage. If the score is tied at the end of regulation time, the matches will go straight to kicks from the penalty mark to determine the winner in accordance to the Laws of the Game. The Concacaf Gold Cup group stage will be played in a format which features four groups among no more than sixteen teams. The matches in the groups shall be played in a Round Robin Format, each team playing one match against each of the other teams in the same group, with three points for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a defeat. After Round Robin play, the top two teams from each group shall advance to the Knockout Stage consisting of Quarterfinals, Semifinals and the Final match. Half of teams in Quarterfinals, Semifinals and the Final match will play for next stage. In the Knockout Stage, if both teams are tied at the end of regular time during the Knockout Stage, extra time will be played. If the score is tied at the end of extra time the matches will go straight to kicks from the penalty.
