About Norwegian Tippeligaen

There are 16 clubs in the Tippeligaen, six of which are located in Eastern Norway, while six clubs are from Western Norway, and two are from north of the Arctic Circle. The method of calculating the points of a single game is that the winner gets 3 points, the loser gets 0 points, and both sides get 1 point for a tie. The final ranking is based on the number of points. If the points are the same, the order is based on the goal difference and the number of goals. The winners of Tippeligaen qualify for the UEFA Champions League, the runner-up together with the third placed team in the table qualify for the UEFA Europa League as well as the team who wins the Norway NM Cupen Cupen. In case the winner of the Cup has already qualified to Champions League or Europa League, the third Europa League spot is given to the team that finishes fourth. The last two teams in the league are relegated to Adeccoligaen. The third team from the bottom of the league will play against the winner in playoff of Adeccoligaen, which compete for qualifications for the Tippeligaen next season.
