Everton set to appoint ex-Burnley boss Dyche as manager - reports

LIVERPOOL, United Kingdom (Reuters) - Everton are expected to name former Burnley boss Sean Dyche as their new manager, British media reported on Friday.

Dyche, 51, has been named as the successor to Frank Lampard, who was sacked earlier this week for poor performances.

Lampard was appointed by Everton in January 2022, after he managed the second line of Chelsea and Derby County in 2019-2021 in the 2018-19 season.

The Merseysiders have struggled under the former England international's leadership and last won a Premier League game in October, beating Crystal Palace 3-0 at home.

Lampard's last game was a 2-0 league defeat at West Ham on Saturday, which leaves Everton in second place on 15 points after 20 games, just one on goal tally. Above Southampton and two points behind from safety.

Dyche, out of work since being sacked by Burnley last April, has transformed the Lancashire club's fortunes during his almost 10 years in charge.

He was sacked when Burnley were relegated last season and is the longest-serving English top-flight manager.

During Dyche's tenure, Burnley were promoted to the Championship twice, won the first half of the Premier League twice and qualified for Europe for the first time in 51 years.

Dyche managed Watford for one season in 2011-12 before joining Burnley.
